Subject: JOHN 21:15-17
Brethren, Please share God’s revelation on the following verses. Joh:21:15: So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. Joh:21:16: He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Joh:21:17: He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Do not the three questions of our Lord, “lovest thou me?’ match the three times Simon Peter denied our Lord in: Mat 26:34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. Mat 26:74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cockk crew. Mat 26:75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly. I am also thinking of the 3 “Lovest thou me” whether the refer to the 3 temptations our Lord Jesus was subjected to in the wilderness (Mat 4:1-9). It was to Peter after recognizing our Lord as, “The Christ and the Son of the living God” that it needs the revelation of the Father to recognize Him. With that therefore, Peter became a “younger brethren” of our Lord in His role as Son of God. Could these 3 “Lovest thou me” relate to Peter’s “victories” over these 3 temptations? I look forward to God’s revelations to you on the matter.

John 21:15 “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.” John 21:16 “He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. ”John 21:17 “He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” ============================================================================================================ As known to all Brethren, It was Peter to whom our Lord Jesus revealed His identity was same with the kindred of Peter which are the chosen of God today. The revelation that did not come from flesh and blood, but to God the Father Himself. Peter signifies the chosen of God who wants to follow the way shown by our Lord Jesus as first among His Brethren. Therefore, the thrice asking of our Lord Jesus is not only addressed to Peter but also to the household of God, His Church – the babes in Christ. What does the repetitive asking of our Lord to the chosen of God about loving Him means? Let us hear from the Lord Himself what he meant about “loving Him” as written: John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” This is the first asking “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? Feed my lambs.” Keeping the commandments as a young sheep (lamb), the lamb in you is being fed. You are starting to be cleansed by the words/commandments.” Psalms 119:9” Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> John 15:3 “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” The statement in John 14:15 may see by the others as plain and simple by following the ten(10) commandments with their intellect and feelings. But to the chosen, it is indeed a tall order that may become possible if and only if there is always willingness to trust Him. It is by keeping His commandment that He will manifest in a chosen that he/she can possibly do and understands the deep spiritual things of the good shepherd (Lord Jesus) through His Spirit in a chosen of God. This is written in: John 14:21 “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” 1 John 3:24 “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” This is the second asking “son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. By keeping the commandments, the word will abide in you and you will be set free from your iniquity. John 8:31 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;”” John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” At this stage the chosen of God has His seed and the spirit abiding in him/her thus understanding the spiritual things of God. He/she can feed the sheep of God in him and can share to each other sheep whatever revelations in the word given by God thus the sheep being fed by chosen of God(Peter). The third asking “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” 1 John 2:5 “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John 2:24 “Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.” 1 John 4:17 “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love 1 John 4:21 “And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. Galatians 5:14 “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. And this is the perfection and the love our Lord is asking to every chosen of God to continue feeding the sheep in them and to each other sheep. A tall order that you witnessed and continue to feel by within yourself that sometime you can not keep abreast because you are being surrounded with different kind of circumstances. It is through the spiritual commandments/words that the sheep can be fed to eternal life. .
