Subject: what does it mean to be saved
There is always great debate about what it takes to be saved, but what does it mean to be saved? I see there are a lot of people in these forums that are real good at doing a word search in whatever Bible software they have on their computer, and using the work of the author of this web site to copy and paste into the post when replying. But that’s not real is it? How about what does salvation mean to you. What is your testimony? This is what is real to people. What has God done for you? In truth, if it wasn’t for God I would either be dead or in jail. I was living a crazy mixed up life, and didn’t care if I lived or died. I came from a broken home, and suffered with many childhood abuses. You know, looking back God was always there. For me salvation is more than going to Heaven. Let’s get real, if man wanted to walk on streets paved with pure gold, and have walls of jasper, he could do it here on earth. Salvation to me is a promise from God. To me being saved means happiness, health, safety, wealth, and a good family. Which by the way I have; not because I have done anything to deserve them, but because God saw fit to let me have them. Salvation, being saved, is more than just a destination or a state of being. It is a way of abundant life. I thank God that Christ died on the cross for me, and gave me life.

for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God

Hammerhead1791, If the aim of an ndividual who genuinely aspires to be a member of the true church of God, he/she must be concerned about things of the Lord as in: Mark 12:29 "And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? Mark 12:28 "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord. Mark 12:30 "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commanment. Mark 12:31 "And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. there is none other commandment greater than these. And the scribe replied carefully not to offend (Mark 12:32-33), this is what the Lord Jesus told Him: Mark 12:34 "And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question. That does mean that the two greatest commandments are not enough to be in the Kingdom of God? After following those commnadments is there any other requirement to be with God and be a member of the true church? Is it not to be with God and be a member of His household, one should be in HIs Kingdom. Is that not tantamount to being saved? What does the Lord required further to be with Him? Is this not the one mentioned by the Lord Jesus in: Matt. 18:3 "… Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:4 “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Luke 18:16 “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." Luke 18:17 “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein." But what is the Kingdom of God according to HIs inspired words? Rom. 14:17 "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 22 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law" Verses above described how a household of God may feel when he/she with Him. Served also as a reminder that these fruits are not corporeal matters/aspects. And this is confirmed that corporeal can not inherit the Kingdom of God as mentioned in: 1 Corinthian 15:50 "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;neither doth corruption inherit corruption." This does not mean that God does not have a regard about corporeal life. In fact there was an instance delineated hereunder by verses: Matthew 22:16 "And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men." Matthew 22:17 "Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?" Matthew 22:18 "But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?" Matthew 22:19 "Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny." Matthew 22:20 "And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?" Matthew 22:21 "They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. Another verses that will atest about it: 1 Peter 2:13 "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;" 1 Peter 2:14 "Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. " 1 Peter 2:15 "For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men." Very important reminder that: Mathhew 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Final reminder to tread in God's path: John 6:63 "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life"

In search of the true church? I joined several Christian sects. I realized they all fall short of God’s standard for “membership” in His “household” (Eph 2:19-22). Hammerhead 1791, may I suggest you read the articles, “BORN AGAIN, THE KEY TO SALVATION,” and “UPON THIS ROCK.” God has given this opportunity for you to find it. God bless you. Sandie
