Subject: On marriage and being widow
May I know God's revelation regarding the following involving marriage and becoming a widow? Rom 7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? Rom 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. Rom 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Brethren,   Hereunder are from previous postings of our Brethren:   ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++   On Marriage and Divorce   Before we humbled ourselves like a "little child" (Matt. 18:3), we were not endowed with "divine knowledge and wisdom" (Matt. 11:25, Isa. 28:9 KJV). Thus, we tried to understand the word of God with our own human capability which is not possible for God is speaking in parables (Ezek. 20:49). True to the prophecy in  Psa. 78:2, this is what is written: Mark 4:34 "But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples." Therefore, let our Lord through His words expound on the subject of divorce. Old Testament laws are explicit about DIVORCE and its consequences. By God's demonstration through His words, it is revealed that the Natural Man (1 Cor. 2:14) consists only of PHYSICAL LIFE composed of the body and the soul. Only after truly being "born again of water and of Spirit" (John 3:5) does a person acquire SPIRITUAL LIFE, composed of the soul and Spirit of God.
From this basic truth about the life of person will God reveal the truth about marriage from which DIVORCE comes
forth. There are "two kinds" of marriage: Spiritual and physical. Spiritual marriage refers to the following: Jer. 3:14 "Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you." Isa. 54:5 " For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts." Does not law on divorce in the Old Testament books apply to the foregoing? But for PHYSICAL LIFE, it is written God entrusts something to civil authorities, including marriage: 1 Pet. 2:13 "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 15For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men." Rom. 13:1 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. 7Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour." It is quite clear that God's edict on marriage and divorce refers to the SPIRITUAL LIFE of the chosen. Jacob who married Leah and Rachel also cohabited with Bilhah and Zilpha (Gen. 30) from whom he had 12 sons. We have not heard God rebuking or condemning Jacob for committing adultery. This must have been allowed by civil law or without it by custom, at that time. And to prove that this is so, nowhere in the Holy Bible can we see servants of God ever conducting marriage! Even Jesus Christ, showing the example as model, did not conduct marriage between husband and wife. Jesus together with His Disciples were only guests at the wedding at Cana. Religious marriages conducted by Priests, Pastors, and Ministers therefore is only a religious tradition. The question of marriage and divorce therefore should be viewed on civil laws governing the relationship between the husband and the wife. Matt. 22:21 "... Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ About Widows   God is speaking in parables (Ezek. 20:49) as our Lord Jesus Christ was prophesied to speak dark sayings of old (Psa. 78:2). Jesus Christ is pictured as a Lamb (John 1:29). He is the Shepherd and His flock consists of "sheep." He said: (capital letters for emphasis) Joh 10:2  But he that entereth in by the door is the SHEPHERD of the SHEEP. Joh 10:4  And when he putteth forth his own SHEEP, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they KNOW HIS VOICE. The "voice" of the Shepherd is revealed in the following: Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU, they ARE SPIRIT, and they are life. Our Lord is talking of Pure Religion. His "voice" is distinct and according to Him "the words that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT." Therefore, God's explanation of Pure Religion must be very different from what the Natural Man (1 Cor. 2:14) understands. Example 1, who are the "fatherless" to the Natural Man? They are children whose father has died. Example 2, who are the "widows" to the Natural Man? They are women whose husband has died. The "voice" of the Shepherd is distinct and very far in meaning from that of the Natural Man. In Example 1, to our Lord the "fatherless" are PEOPLE whose "father" have died as in: Joh 8:44  YE ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and ABODE NOT IN THE TRUTH, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for HE IS A LIAR, AND THE FATHER OF IT. Therefore, if LIES AND FALSEHOOD is still with us we are still of our "father" the devil. Satan also quotes Bible verses as when he tempted our Lord in the desert (Matt. 4:6), quoting: Psa 91:11  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. In example 2, to our Lord the "widows" are PEOPLE  whose "love for the letter of the word" have died: Rom 7:1  Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? Note the following analogy: Rom 7:2  For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. Rom 7:3  So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. Does God refer to physical women in the following? Rom 7:4  Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, EVEN TO HIM WHO IS RAISED FROM THE DEAD, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. Rom 7:5  For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. Is this not "widowhood?" Rom 7:6  But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in NEWNESS OF SPIRIT, and NOT IN THE OLDNESS OF THE LETTER. Therefore, as long as we are still "married to the "LETTER" of the word," we cannot marry and be the BRIDE of Jesus Christ. Was Nicodemus a "spiritual widow" when he said: Joh 3:4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? What is the "newness of the spirit" of the word for "born again?" Joh 3:5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of WATER and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Again, the Natural Man tries to spiritualize "born again" by saying: "If you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior of your life, you will have a change life of sin into a life of righteousness and piety." But the "voice" of the Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is the following: WATER refers to the "letter" of the word of God in the following: Eph 5:26  "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of WATER by the WORD." SPIRIT refers to the Holy Ghost in the following: Joh 7:39  "But this spake he of the SPIRIT, which they that believe on him should receive for the HOLY GHOST was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified." The "letter" of the word and the "Holy Spirit" are the two witnesses to the TRUTH. Therefore "born again" means to be "born of the TRUTH." And this is the TRUTH regarding the word of God: 1 Cor 2:12  "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."   1 Cor 2:13  "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; COMPARING SPIRITUAL THINGS WITH SPIRITUAL." "Born again" therefore is to be "born of the TRUTH." Since Jesus is the TRUTH, and He is a Lamb, "born again" is the transformation of a "goat" into a "sheep" that a person could now understand the "language of the Lamb." Therefore, to be able to "hear and speak" the language of the Lamb, we must first be truly "born again." Then we will be exempted from the rebuke of our Lord: Joh 8:19  Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. As along as the "Father" is still a mystery, JESUS has not yet been truly IDENTIFIED and therefore cannot yet "hear His voice" and "speak His language." ----- Original Message ----- From: "scott_baldwin29" <bibletalk@purechristianity.org (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> To: <bibletalk@purechristianity.org (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2006 10:58 AM Subject: On marriage and being widow
May I know God's revelation regarding the following involving marriage and becoming a widow? Now it is getting clearer to me why God wants to be praised through His words as our brethren used to quote the following: Psa 56:10 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. 11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. Indeed, how wonderful are His words to His chosen. But to those on the outside, because the great message is hidden from them, they are an offense. We have seen this in the religious leaders during the time of Christ leading to His death on the cross. Today, I can see His words not passing away and this time it is the TRUTH that they hate.
