Rom 16:16 "Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you." This could not have referred to the Scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, the priests, and the people in general who were “not yet converted into little children” (Matt 18:3), so as to be endowed with divine knowledge and wisdom (Matt. 11:25). How could they execute “a holy kiss” and “claim churches of Christ” when they do not even recognize Jesus so as to be able to identify the Almighty Father God also. Joh 8:54 “Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 Yet ye have not known him...” Joh 8:19 “Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.” Definitely therefore, this is only to the real followers of the true Christ who have satisfied the foregoing requirement, thereby “speaking the language of the Lamb,” their Shepherd (not men). Jesus said: Joh 3:12 “If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?” Therefore from “earthly things” God will reveal His message of “heavenly things” regarding “a holy kiss.” Persons kissing (genuine) each other is a sign of love, conformity, and devotion to each other. Spiritually, Paul felt and expressed this when he said: Rom 1:11 "For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; 12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me." We all feel what Paul felt with each other. We don’t have the option to meet each other personally. However whatever is the media, the fact that each of us has received some revelation from the Lord of His words, His blessing of strength and patience, we are only to anxious to share these with our brethren, as they also feel the same thing. No wonder whenever somebody comes in and “does not have these attributes” is a cause of annoyance to our “holy kiss.” Again Paul wrote the Christians of Philippi: Phi 2:1 "If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” A “holy kiss” is the binding force of real Christians in their “spiritual walk.” “Churches of Christ” is composed of two or more real believers enjoying the great message of the word, the “spiritual food” being fed by the Shepherd. This is what our Lord meant when He told His Disciples: Mat 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." The “name” of our Lord is His Word of God, the Truth: Rev 19:13 "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God." I hope more brethren here would share the joy of a “holy kiss.” [quote:e388a9d022="vdf"]Ro:16:16: Salute one another with an holy kiss. Rom. 16:16: Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you. 1Cor. 16:20: All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss. 2Cor. 13:12: Greet one another with an holy kiss 1Th:5:26: Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss. ===========================================================================  This is just a supplement to Bro. Fil's posting.   1 Peter 5:14 "Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen."   And charity is as it is written   1 Corinthians 13   "1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity."     1 Timothy 1:5 "Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:"   "Charity out of pure heart" and who are these pure in heart?   Psalms 24:4 "He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully" 2 Timothy 3:22 "Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure hearth." And how we can have a pure heart? 1 Peter 1:22 "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure hearth fervently: Hebrew 11:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. We have known water to be the word of God. Ephesians 5:26 "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,     Is not charity equates to "love", as written on the following verses?   Romans 13:10 "Love  worketh no ill to his neighbour: "therefore love is the fulfilling of the  law". Romans 13:8 "Owe no  man any thing, but  to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the  law."   So brethren, this again lead us to the spirit of love   1 John 5:2 "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments."   And to the two greatest commandments of Lord Jesus Christ   Mark 12: 29 "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is,Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: " 30 " Mark 12:31 "And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these" 31 "And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these".   Therefore salute with holy kiss is only among the household of Jesus Christ whom are the pure heart, who recognized/known the one true God.   Matthew 5:8 "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.     So the gesture of Judas in   Lu:22:47: And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.   is not out of love, but a betrayal.       ----- Original Message ----- From: "vdf" <bibletalk@purechristianity.org (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> To: <bibletalk@purechristianity.org (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> Sent: Friday, November 04, 2005 4:43 PM Subject: Holy kiss
Ro:16:16: Salute one another with an holy kiss.
