If Jesus Christ is the truth, and they crucified him; today I believe people who do not know the truth are "crucifying" by nullifying the truth. And this they do not know what they are doing. The priests during the time of Christ thought they were serving God in crucifying our Lord. What do you think?

Richard, I also think the same as you do. We know who the equivalent of the priests during the time of our Lord are in our time, the people thinking they are serving God. If these people who wants to crucify him symbolized those people who thought that they are serving God...Why Jesus Christ is asking for the forgiveness of the Father for their wrong doing...? Is this again a Parable??

Let us remember Jesus Christ in saying this assumes the role of the "Eldest Son of God" who is showing the Way to His "brethren" (Rom. 8:29). He did not know (Matt. 24:36), like us, who among those who executed Him would someday humble themselves. In like manner, when we encounter people who "persecute" or try to dispute the truth, in our hearts we say, "hope someday you will receive spiritual healing of 'opening the eyes to see the light, and opening of the ears to hear the truth' that you may also do what I am doing with full of gladness." In effect, this is "asking for his/her forgiveness" of the Father.
