Brethren, can you share God's revelation regarding following verses? Matthew 5:33 Again ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time. Thou shalt not foreswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths. Matthew 5:34 But I say unto you. Swear not at all neither by heaven for it is God's throne. Matthew 5:35 Nor by the earth for it is his footstool neither by Jerusalem for it is the city of the great King. Matthew 5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head because thou canst not make one hair white or black. God said in Malachi 3:16 that he change not but with the verses above he did. change.

I am thinking of faith. Does not faith have something to do with this? It is wrong for many people to reflect faith as originating from own capability although professing it is a gift of God. I am reminded of our Lordís counsel. Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. On matters pertaining to God, shall we not see the example of our Lord Jesus, as Son, how He depended fully to the Father? John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. "Neither shalt thou swear by thy head" indicates man's own capability. [quote:d76d403e0a="mrwilson37"]Brethren, can you share God's revelation regarding following verses? A supplement to Brethren's postings: ================================================================== Matthew 5:33 Again ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time. Thou shalt not foreswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths. ================================================================== Ezekiel 16:59 "For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant." What is the covenant/law broken in the old time? Isn't it that God commanded Adam & Eve (Man): Genesis 2:16 "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:" Genesis 2:17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Genesis 3:2 "And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:" Genesis 3:3 "But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die." Genesis 3:6 "And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Instead of man keeping his oath with God and remaining to perform is oath by folowing the commandment given, he despised it desiring to be wise and of level with God. That was the start of the fall of man- being separated from the "tree of life" (spirit of God). From thereon man swears much more than himself with his intellect and feeling which is his soul in dealing with spirituality as it is written: Hebrews 6:16 "For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. They are using the instrument of man with the complete confirmation of certificates and diplomas concerning spirituality. ================================================================== Matthew 5:34 But I say unto you. Swear not at all neither by heaven for it is God's throne. ================================================================== Heaven: Luke 17:20 " And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comet not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you ." 1 Corinthians 3:16 " Know ye not that ye are the temple of God , and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you Romans 14:17 " For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." Matthew 23:22 "And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. ================================================================== Matthew 5:35 "Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.. ================================================================== Earth: Jeremiah 22:29 “ O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.” Psalms 33:8 “Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.” Isaiah 65:16 "That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes." Jerusalem: Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Jer. 3:14 "Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you." Isa. 54:5 " For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts." ================================================================== Matthew 5:36 "Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black... ================================================================== Leveticus 13:10 "And if, when the priest seeth it, behold, it be in sight lower than the skin, and the hair thereof be turned white; the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague of leprosy broken out of the boil. Leveticus 13:37 "But if the scall be in his sight at a stay, and that there is black hair grown up therein; the scall is healed, he is clean: and the priest shall pronounce him clean. Hebrews 6:20 "Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. ================================================================== The counsel of the Lord is never swear with heaven, earth and Jerusalem if anyone cannot keep the commandment of Him-for these are His dominion. And it is written that: Hebrews 6:13 "For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Hebrews 6:16 "For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. For heaven, earth and Jerusalem can only swear greater through the name/commandment of the Lord Jesus Christ and their communications: 2 Corinthians 1:18 "But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. And if someone communication is like this, it means that: Matthew 5:37 "But let your communication be, Yea, yea, Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." James 5:12 "But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation." Therefore, let the communications of those who want to remain with our Lord Jesus should only be: 2 Corinthians 1:19 "For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea." 2 Corinthians 1:20 "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us." So Lord Jesus did not change even in Malachi 3:16 "Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name." Isn"t it heaven, earth and Jerusalem which is the church/babe in Christ/chosen of God is the one who hears and follows the spiritual commandment/name of the Lord? And he fears the Lord even in: Psalms 2:11 "Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling" Commanded hereunder if he wants to be with HIm, he has to as written: Philippians 2:12 "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" What is really important is that: Ecclesiastes 12:13 "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." And John 14:23 "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." 1 John 2:5 "But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him." John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:14 “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." 2 John 1:6 "And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it."
