An Eye for an Eye

- How can Christ's statement, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill," be reconciled with His preaching of love instead of revenge as it refers to this Old Testament Law "eye for an eye?"

- What is "eye for an eye," "tooth for a tooth," "hand for hand," "foot for foot," "wound for wound," and "life for life?"

Subject: GOD'S BLESSINGS TO HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE
Dear brothers and sisters, Deu 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: Philippians 2:13 " For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." Rightly dividing the word of truth, to observe and to do all of God's commandments comes first before "God will set thee on high above all nations..."( or before God will work in us). Yes, the first move comes from God, calling His chosen (who according to His foreknowledge will vow to His words and "be like a 'lttle child"'). But since God do not and will not control our "freewill," it is our responsibility to "seek ye first the kingdom of God," and "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling ." Let us not all forget that the first commandment is, "Hear, Oh Israel (the "chosen");The Lord our God is one Lord, and "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God." If "the Word was God," absolutely we have to honor and follow God's commandments to love our neighbor exercising "fear and trembling" which is "rightly dividing the word of truth." I sincerely believe that it is only after we have sought the kingdom of God and His righteousness that He will work in us. A testimony: I was once a devoted catholic, later on I joined the Trinitarian movements and then, became a member of the Pentecostal Oneness. In my testimony dated May 20, 2005, I said "We were deceived to the fullest." True. Because aside from giving so much money, I buried my jewelries (I can not dig it anymore because a big school building was built on the place) , thrown my pants and sleeveless blouses (including my daughters) broke my collections of cassette tapes, and did many things that I eventhough they said I must do for the sake of the Lord, deep inside, it hurted me so much. Then came God's calling...... At first I did not "hearken unto the voice of the Lord." When Finally I surrendered and eventually followed the commandment, "Love thy neighbor, " true to His words, God gave me enough blessings (both spiritually and physically). My joining in the Pentecostal Oneness made our physical lives miserable. It was not only that we got bankrupt. Worst was, we had had, millions of debt. I very well knew that in the physical, "the flesh profiteth nothing." But due to my problems on hand, I talked to the Lord to somehow help me lighten my burdens. One day, The VOA ( Voice of America) here in Kuwait (it is under the US Embassy), was in need of 6 persons to work with them. Since they need Filipinos only from the VOA all over the Philippines, many employees from my husband's office, applied. Almario did not apply thinking that he was too old to be chosen and also because all of 6's people hired were all engineers. Then it happened that another person suddenly resigned so another one is needed. To make the story short, it was my husband that was selected out of the many many applicants. Now I am leaving this message to you all my brethren: Matthew 6:33 " But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

In the Old Testament God made these promises to His chosen people: Deu 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: Deu 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Deu 28:3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Deu 28:4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Deu 28:5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Deu 28:6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. Deu 28:7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. Deu 28:8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Deu 28:9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. Deu 28:10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee. Deu 28:11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. Deu 28:12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. Deu 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: Some people when I share our belief that we have to provide for our material-physical needs quote the foregoing promises of God. How do we answer them?

brethren, The following are excerpts from one of the purechristianity's article revelations. I shared these to others but was met with much opposition. But - they could not answer me back when I questioned them on why some are physically/financially blessed while others lay in too much poverty and misery. GREAT LESSON Real Christians want to share this one thing with people who have not yet found the Way. For being "little children" and realizing their "nothingness" in the eyes of God, they cannot do anything but depend on Him. God, therefore, is given a "free hand" to work in their spiritual life. Their PHYSICAL LIFE is their own responsibility as Jesus Christ and Paul demonstrated. They never asked the Father for their physical-material necessities. This jibes perfectly with what our Lord told His disciples: Matthew 6:8 "...your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." God gave us the intellect and physical strength, and we did not ask for them. The fowls of the air do not have these "tools" for their physical survival, yet they live. Matthew 6:25-26 "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" This PHYSICAL LIFE, however, has to walk hand-in-hand with the SPIRITUAL LIFE. By virtue of being a "little child," God now guides the real believer’s SPIRITUAL LIFE to His path. Our Lord epitomized this when He told His disciples: "Ye are the salt of the earth," pertaining to their PHYSICAL LIFE. "Ye are the light of the world," pertaining to their SPIRITUAL LIFE. Real Christians realize the true meaning of: Amos 3:3 "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" WHAT IS THE TRUTH? The fact that Christianity Today is divided is the proof that no one, but God alone can reveal the truth. Many people think otherwise by saying: "How can God do it when He is invisible. We will go crazy trying to understand the Bible. We will just rely on ‘Bible authorities.’ After all, it is their role to explain and exhort as God’s representatives." God exposed that man is incapable of unraveling the great mysteries of His words. Many people are deceived into believing that just because a doctrine is supported by Bible verses it already constitutes the truth. This is what is being preached by the 1001 Christian denominations today. Each of them claims the "truth" on the basis of this misconception of truth. God’s chosen few see otherwise. They ask the SPEAKER on the microphone and not the SPEAKER SYSTEM . They ask God and not the "servants" on their own personal authority. The know the "voice" of God. They can distinguish whether the sound came from the SPEAKER or from the SPEAKER SYSTEM only. If it is a clear crispy sound, it came from the SPEAKER. If it is not clear and contradictory to what is written, it is simply a noise coming from the SPEAKER SYSTEM. John 10:4-5 "...he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice . And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." The "voice" of GOD is clear, authoritative, and powerful. It never finds contradiction with what "is written," for God will never contradict Himself. The "voice of the servants" is not clear as it is full of contradictions with what "is written." Questions and doubts are "hanging" for they are not authoritative. People, however, are taken by the emotional refreshment from the mellifluous speech and eloquence of the "speakers." This is what is learned from the efforts of men, THEOLOGY and its ramifications: Apologetics, Dogmatic theology, Moral theology, Pastoral theology, Homiletics, Cannon Law, Biblical exegesis, textual, linguistic, literary, historical disciplines, liturgical, ethical, philosophical theologies, etc. The discussion ends with these GOD's Words of Spiritual Truth that i shared with them that definitely was always bypassed by the so-called Bible based congregations of today's Christianity Jhn 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. *******

dear brethren, Since the question raised was a deviant from the recent subject - "God's blessings to His chosen people" , perhaps it is appropriate for the moment that replies come from the brethren's past posts. How do children of God work their salvation with “fear” in accordance with what is written? Psalms 2:11 “Serve the LORD with fear, …………………….” Joshua 24:14 “Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD." Ecclesiastes 12:13 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” By doing so Psalms 111:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.” What does “trembling” connotes as written? Psalms 2:11 “……………………………….., and rejoice with trembling Luke 10:21 “In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.” 1 Chronicles 16:10 “Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.” Psalms 119:111 “Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicings of my heart.” 3 John 1:3 “For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth..” 3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” And this sums up to: 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” ----- Original Message ----- From: "ric32bailey" <bibletalk@purechristianity.org (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> To: <bibletalk@purechristianity.org (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2006 5:36 AM Subject: RE: Faith with works > Quote: I can now understand the meaning of FAITH and WORKS differently from what I used to know. Before, I thought faith refers to what I had in mind and sincerely believed in it; while works pertain to anything good I did helping my fellowmen, be they financial, material-physical, or emotional boost up. Now I realized that FAITH is a gift of God and I only received it when I truly humbled myself before Him. With faith goes divine knowledge. But knowing the truth is not enough. This has to be put into action that God would "benefit" from it. Even then, "works" come from the strength provided by God based on the humility He sees in us. It is like, without faith there can be no acceptable works to God, and works is the evidence of having faith. All these, faith and works, come from God as He sees our submissiveness to Him as shown by our Lord Jesus in His role as Son. God creates circumstances in our life for all these to be realized. Since God is after the salvation of souls, "works" is where He realizes His plan "benefiting Him" as well as the chosen. I hope this is God's revelation, and I am open to correction if there is anything contradicting the truth. Matthew 24:13 "But he that shall endure unto the end (till death/ last breath), the same shall be saved." I believed these words of God is addressed to the "chosen" who already have the gift of "faith." What are we to endure?..... 1 Timothy 2:15 " Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and CHARITY...." God said, "..be ye fruitful, and multiply." Very clearly: we, the fruitful wife of God have to follow "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations...." Bro. Art is right. We have to observe "rightly dividing the word of truth" and not just stick into one verse(verses) Are we or are we not commanded to be like a "little child?" Bro. Ric's statement anwers it all: "Now I realized that FAITH is a gift of God and I only received it when I truly humbled myself before Him. With faith goes divine knowledge. But knowing the truth is not enough. This has to be put into action that God would "benefit" from it. Even then, "works" come from the strength provided by God based on the humility He sees in us. All these, faith and works, come from God as He sees our submissiveness to Him as shown by our Lord Jesus in His role as Son. God creates circumstances in our life for all these to be realized." Bro. Porong's "GOD, we praise and glorify You for the Spiritual Truth in the Words from the brethren !!" is an example of being a "little child," vowing in the words of God. Sharing the truth is the most difficult commandment given by God to the chosen. But whether we like it or not, we have to follow it because "faith without works (or charity) is dead." If we say we love God and do not obey Him, then we are liars because He said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." 3 John 1:3 “For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth..” 3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” Let us not all forget that there are CALLED, CHOSEN and ELECT. As in "Many are called but few are chosen," the chosen are those that have come to the knowledge of Truth, and the Elect; they are those that come to the knowledge of Truth and have endured unto the end, teaching all nations which is a manifestation of being faithful to our spiritual Husband. As God have said, Matthew 28:20 " Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, unto the end of the world."
