Subject: Are not these three (3) H for salvation?
“Total submission to God” is equivalent to spiritual humility. First H This is what I read regarding the FIRST step to salvation. HUMILITY like a “little child.” Mat 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Example: Simon Peter, John, James, Paul, and other Apostles and Disciples of Christ were converted as “little children” before our Lord. Result: Divine knowledge and wisdom was endowed to them, although in the eyes of men they were not “wise and the prudent.” Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. With humility Simon Peter was able to recognize JESUS, not with his flesh and blood but by the revelation of the Father! Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. By recognizing Jesus by divine revelation, the identity of the FATHER followed! Joh 8:19 “…Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. Second H The SECOND step is still HUMILITY as Jesus showed by example in His “spiritual walk.” Joh 5:19 “…Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself… The Disciples saw this and followed His example: Mat 19:25 “When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?” Paul followed this example: 1 Cor 2:3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Third H This is the LAST step referring to spiritual perfection and it is still HUMILITY, that God would give us strength to follow "His will.” That is what our Lord Jesus in His role as SON showed by example. Mat 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Therefore, man’s only role in salvation is: Nothing, but true spiritual HUMILITY! This is what is enjoined to all real believers: Phi 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Our only role in salvation is HUMILITY that God would endow us with FAITH as a gift: Eph. 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." It is thru FAITH therefore that we are given strength to follow "His will." This is the kind of "work" that God expects, very different from what the Natural Man understands. 1 Cor 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Jesus Christ showing the Way (John 14:6), by example (1 Pet. 2:21), as model (Rom. 8:29) entrusted all to the Father. Is not this the real believer’s credo? FAITH is followed by “WORKS” and all these must come from God. Thus, the image of the Spiritual Man: 1 Cor 2:15 “But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” Salvation therefore begins and ends with HUMILITY! This is what our Lord Jesus in His role as SON by way of example. But the Scribes and Pharisees saw otherwise!
