Subject: Quite perplexed
I am quite perplexed with the following seemingly contradictory verses. May I know God's revelation to you regarding this matter. Leviticus 10:9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: 1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities. Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. 1 Cor 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. I read somewhere in the gospels that Jesus Christ was called a "wine bibber." Richard

Richard good day bro. sorry for my late reply. re what you are asking, i just want to share what i have learned
from the word... in conjunction with it, i recommend that you read the article "THE MIRACLE AT CANA". From there we see that water symbolizes the word of God, wine simbolizes the word of God with its spiritual meaning. on the other hand, strong drink represents man's traditions, man's own way, and being filled with it means being devoid of God's knowledge. God bless! __________________________________ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com

============================================== Leviticus 10:9 " Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:" ============================================= Proverbs 20:1 "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." Isaiah 28:7 "But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment." Proverbs 21:16 "The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead." The wine or strong drink are imitations of the spirit of the Lord. It is the way of the natural man, whom tries to follow and worship God using  his/her intellect and senses. (This equates to what Bro. Eric learned from the words of God) ================================================ 1 Timothy 5:23  Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities" ============================================== John 6:53 "Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you."   John 6:55 "For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed."   Mat 26:27  "And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." John 7:39 "(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)" Eph. 5:26 "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word." John 15:3 "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you."   1 John 5:6 "This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth." Wine here refers to the Holy Spirit and water as clearly stated from the above verses to be the word of God.Word + Holy Spirit that everyone should drink in order to tread the right path to our Lord Jesus, for our spiritual foods and treatment of our spiritual diseases.   (This equates to the revelation of Sis Aida on "water and wine for the stomach") ========================================================== Luke 1:15 "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb." ======================================================== John the Baptist is being referred to in this verse and he does not have the spirit of the natural man, but the spirit of God by faith. ======================================================== 1 Cor 5:11  "But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat." ======================================================== Drunkard, fornicator...and the likes these are the attributes of the natural man who walks out of the way of God and as it is written there is the same warning in   2 Corinthians 6:14 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?   Even to your soul(intellect and senses) which is your brother,son...   Deu 13:6  "If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own SOUL, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers."   Romans 5:10 "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." ----- Original Message ----- From: "ric32bailey" <.or (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)bibletalk@purechristianity (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)g (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> To: <bibletalk@purechristianity.org (bibletalk@purechristianity.org)> Sent: Tuesday, October 04, 2005 10:57 AM Subject: Quite perplexed
I am quite perplexed with the following seemingly contradictory verses.
